There will be buffets: where to do Christmas

Time to bust out the turkey (and the stretchy pants). We’ve found this year’s best Xmas brunches in Singapore and restaurants serving up epic Christmas feasts.

Surprised to hear festive songs in malls in Singapore already? Yup, that’s because Christmas time is already on its way and resistance is futile. Gifts aside, for us Christmas is always about the food, family banquets and big get-togethers where we all stuff ourselves silly. Let’s be honest, there’s nothing better than an amazing festive spread that involves zero cooking or clean-up. Yes we’ve spent a Christmas day or two opting for the swish hotel brunch. Not sure where to start? We’ve got a couple of places in mind… and no it’s not too early to start booking for Xmas. We’ve learned this the hard way!

Pan Pacific Singapore
Expect festive spreads for diverse palates at Pan Pacific’s award-winning restaurants The Edge (pictured top), Hai Tien Lo and Keyaki. Bring home an array of holiday goodies from Pacific Marketplace, featuring quintessential treats inspired by local flavours including the new Peranakan roasted turkey and chendol log cake.

Oxwell & Co.
Promising a true British Christmas at Oxwell & Co., these folks have never let us down  during festive season. While others may aim to surprise (and maybe shock) diners with new and unique dishes, we’re glad Oxwell & Co. is sticking to the classics: think traditional roasts  mash, gravy and Yorkshire pudding, charred Brussels sprouts, roast potatoes, cold cuts and more. Trust us: go straight for the roast Westholme beef with a side of Brussel sprouts. Feeling fancy? Share a pot of chicken and liver pate and bread before the main arrives. If all you want for Christmas is a hearty meal with the company of good friends, Oxwell & Co. on Ann Siang is your star.

Both at the Park Hotel Clarke Quay is both a fine food store and dining space with cosy rooms decorated as if you’re stepping into somebody’s cool home. We love the sound of the velvety cognac-scented Lobster Bisque and gravlax of Norwegian salmon topped with marinated fennel and avruga caviar. If you love your meat, dig in the Charcuterie platter, suckling pig, or the succulent steak served with pepper sauce and thick cut fries. Game lovers would be thrilled by the roasted French quail with Brussels sprouts, bacon, and natural jus.
